# HTML to URL: drop a file or paste HTML, get a free link

Drop your .html file (or a folder or .zip) below, or paste the code, and you get a public `https://<name>.chorus.host` link right away. No account needed: the link lasts 24 hours, and signing in with your email (free) keeps it until you delete it.

<!-- html:dropzone-paste -->

## How it works

1. Drop a file, pick a folder, or switch to **Paste HTML** and paste your code. You can choose a name, like `my-page`, or leave it blank for a random one.
2. Your browser uploads the files straight to storage, and the link appears: `https://my-page.chorus.host`. Copy it and send it to anyone.
3. To keep it past 24 hours, click **Keep it, sign in**, enter your email, and type the 6-digit code we send. No password to remember.

In our test on 1 October 2026 it took 1.3 seconds from choosing a one-file page to a live link (signed in, 170-byte page).

## What you can upload

- **One HTML file, under any name.** `my-page.html` becomes the home page, so the link opens it. No need to rename it to `index.html`.
- **A folder** with CSS, JavaScript and images. Relative paths keep working: `<img src="images/logo.png">` loads `images/logo.png` from the folder you dropped.
- **A .zip**, unzipped in your browser. Zips that are encrypted or use ZIP64 (files over 4 GB) aren't supported.
- **Files up to 250 MB** each without an account, 5 GB with one, and up to 10,000 files per site.

Some files are skipped on purpose, and the result tells you which: files that usually hold passwords or keys (`.env`, `.env.*`, `.npmrc`, `id_rsa`, `*.pem`, `*.key` and similar), executables, and the `.git`, `node_modules` and `__MACOSX` folders. Once a site is public anyone can read every file in it, so these stay on your machine.

## Made the page with ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini?

Copy the code from the chat and paste it into the **Paste HTML** tab. Two things to know:

- Images the AI referenced as local files (`photo.jpg`) need to be uploaded with the page: save them next to the HTML file and drop the whole folder. Images and libraries loaded from a CDN (`https://...`) work as they are.
- Next time, the AI can publish the page itself. Coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) can read [chorus.host/skill.md](/skill.md); chat apps can connect to the [MCP server](/mcp).

## How long the link lasts

| | No account | Free account |
|---|---|---|
| Lifetime | 24 hours | Until you delete it |
| Publishes | 5 an hour from one network | 60 an hour |
| Largest file | 250 MB | 5 GB |
| Largest site | 10 GB | 10 GB |
| Search engines | Not listed while unclaimed (noindex) | Can be listed once you keep it |

## chorus.host compared with other free HTML hosts

Checked 1 October 2026 on each service's own pages; plans change, so follow the links.

| | Public link without an account | How long, without an account | Free plan after sign-up | Folder and .zip | Paste code | Largest free file |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| chorus.host | Yes, immediately | 24 hours | Kept until you delete it | Yes | Yes | 250 MB |
| [Netlify Drop](https://docs.netlify.com/start/quickstarts/netlify-drop-quickstart/) | Uploads work, but the site is password-protected until claimed | Claim within 1 hour | Normal Netlify plan | Yes | No | Under 50 MB recommended |
| [Tiiny Host](https://tiiny.host/host-html-file/) | No, sign-up first | n/a | 1 site, 3 MB, with a Tiiny banner | .zip | No | 3 MB |
| [EdgeOne Pages Drop](https://pages.edgeone.ai/use-cases/html-to-url) | Yes | 1 hour | Permanent | Yes | No | 25 MB |
| [htmltourl.com](https://htmltourl.com/) | Yes, a guest link | 1 hour | One URL for 3 days | No | Yes | 20 MB |

Where others are better: Netlify builds framework projects once you're signed in and supports custom domains. EdgeOne keeps pages permanently for free once you have an account. Tiiny's paid plans add an editor and analytics. htmltourl shows a live preview of pasted code before you publish.

## Questions

### Is it free?

Yes. Publishing without an account is free, and so is the account that keeps your pages. There are no paid plans.

### How long does the link last?

24 hours if you don't sign in. Sign in with your email within that time and the page stays up until you delete it.

### Do I have to rename my file to index.html?

No, not for one file: it becomes the home page whatever it's called. If you upload several HTML files, include an `index.html` so the link has a home page; the others are reachable at their own names.

### Will my images and CSS work?

Yes, if you upload them with the page: drop the folder, or a .zip of it. Files loaded from other websites (CDN links) work as they are.

### Will Google find my page?

Not while it's unclaimed: those pages are sent with a noindex header. Once you keep it in your account, search engines can index it.

### Can I password-protect it or update it without changing the link?

Password: yes, right after publishing, with the **Add a password** form under the link. Updating: yes, through the API or your AI agent today (see [share an HTML file as a link](/guides/share-html-file-as-link)); the drop zone always makes a new link.

### Why does it say "Too many publishes from this network"?

Without an account, each network can publish 5 times an hour. Sign in (free) for 60 an hour, or wait for the hour to pass.

### What isn't allowed?

Phishing, malware, scams, spam and anything illegal. See the [terms](/terms). Report a page to [abuse@chorus.host](mailto:abuse@chorus.host).
